A good motivational tool is using a calorie counter to lose weight. If you look around there are several great ones you can use for free. Keep in mind that the key to losing weight is to burn more calories than you take in, which is easier than most people realize. You burn calories while you sleep, sit, and just do your regular daily activities. I personally never felt the need to use one. I feel that if you eat extremely healthy you won't need it.
